In 1926, E. R. Rosser, the proprietor of a small retail grocery store in Lynchburg, for the more convenient dispatch of business and for the more prompt delivery of sales, purchased from the Lynchburg Motor Company, sometimes known as the Merryman Motor Company, formerly the Rustburg Motor Company, a Star roadster. This purchase was made under a conditional sales contract whereby title remained in the vendor to secure to it the balance due.
