In an effort to perpetuate the nonconformity of forty lots laid out in a subdivison in 1967, the owner of those lots, A & A Contracting, Inc., engaged in “checkerboard” conveyances 3 on August 29, 1974, in anticipation of the expiration of the period of immunity from more restrictive zoning amendments conferred by G.
