RIPPLE, Circuit Judge.

James W. Bruce appeals the denial of his motion for post-conviction relief under 28 U.S.C. § 2255. He alleges that his trial counsel was ineffective for having failed to investigate and call two alibi witnesses who could have exonerated him of involvement in two armed bank robberies. Specifically, Mr. Bruce contends that the district court improperly denied him an evidentiary hearing to resolve certain factual disputes concerning the reasonableness of counsel’s performance. For the reasons set forth in the following opinion, we reverse the judgment of the district court…
