On April 24, 1879, The Church of Christ, commonly known as the Christian Church of Zif, Illinois, was incorporated under the statute relating to the incorporation of religious societies. The corporation was authorized, by statute, to acquire and own land not exceeding ten acres in area and to erect and maintain such houses, buildings and other improvements as might be necessary for the convenience and comfort of the congregation, church, or society.
