Cornist Johnson appeals the magistrate judge’s 1 denial of his petition for habeas corpus relief. Johnson claims he received ineffective assistance of counsel during his state court criminal trial because his attorney failed to: investigate the case adequately and prepare for trial; offer a theory of the ease or put forth evidence at trial; advise Johnson of the limitations on the state’s ability to use his prior convictions to impeach him; and seek the exclusion of inadmissible prior conviction evidence.
