Appellee Durwood Currier had worked for appellant Pratt & Whitney (“Pratt”), a division of United Technologies Corporation (“UTC”), for'twenty-one years before he was terminated in a reduction-in-force (“RIF”) in mid-2000. He was 61 years old and had advanced to positions of increasing responsibility during his tenure with the company, receiving commendations for the quality of his work and regular merit pay increases.
