—Appeal by the defendant from a judgment of the Supreme Court, Kings County (Dabiri, J.), rendered December 13, 1996, convicting him of assault in the second degree, upon a jury verdict, and imposing sentence.

Ordered that the judgment is affirmed.

The defendant contends that reversible error took place because the Trial Judge improperly permitted the People to cross-examine the sole defense witness, his girlfriend of seven years, regarding a prior incident in which he was charged with assaulting her.
