|TOn June 11, 2007, Robin Malta was discovered bludgeoned to death in his apartment at 634 Port Street in New Orleans. Subsequently, the defendant, Mark Ott, was charged with second-degree murder in the death of Mr. Malta. At his arraignment, the defendant pled not guilty.

During a four day trial, the jurors heard testimony from investigators involved in the case, experts, and lay witnesses. At the conclusion of the trial, the jury returned a verdict of guilty, with ten jurors finding the defendant guilty as charged and two finding him guilty of manslaughter. Following…
