Sibbald having obtained a grant of land from the Governor of Florida in 1816, made two contracts with Samuel Grice in 1827 and 1828, permitting Grice, during three years, to cut timber on some of the lands for the construction of some vessels of war for the United States, and he obtained an advance of money from Grice on account.
