Fred Wells, Jr., died September 20, 1946. The question is whether an injury-received September 4th was a contributing cause, requiring that Wells’ widow and mother be compensated.

The accident occurred when wood thrown from a ripsaw penetrated the operator’s left foream. The so-called “splinter” was an eighth of an inch thick, probably an inch wide, and an inch and a half in length. It was part of a larger cut or segment projected with considerable force.
