Defendant was convicted, after a jury trial, of burglary in the first degree (Penal Law § 140.30 [3]) and assault in the second degree (Penal Law § 120.05 [2]) for events that occurred on *151March 9, 2008. On that date, defendant and an accomplice attacked the victim, ransacked her apartment and stole $300 from her purse.
