The defendant, William C. Batten, was convicted on two counts of first-degree murder while armed with a deadly weapon. He was sentenced to confinement for two terms of life to be served consecutively. We affirm those sentences.

We note, initially, that Mr. Batten challenges the jurisdiction of the state courts because, as stated in his motion, the crimes are "alleged to have occurred within an enclave of the United States Government . . ," For purposes of resolving this issue we will assume that the crimes occurred within the exterior boundaries of the Quinault Indian Reservation in Grays…
