ALMA L. LÓPEZ, Justice.

Appellants raise issues concerning doctor-patient privilege, contributory negligence, and damages for pain and suffering in this appeal. We affirm the judgment.

Background

Tereso De Jesus Rios was involved in an automobile collision on July 23, 1993, with Juan Cazares, an employee of Texas Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation (“MHMR”). Rios and his wife, Rose, sued MHMR for personal injury damages, loss of household services and loss of consortium.
