The defendant has been convicted of killing his wife, and now rests under sentence of death. The material facts in the case may be briefly stated. The defendant is an illiterate Italian barber, of a low order of intelligence, who was married to the deceased, in this country, some eight or ten years prior to the homicide, and has resided here ever since, either in the city of New York or the city of Brooklyn.
