ADKINS, Judge.

By Chapters 495 and 499, Laws of 1985, the Maryland General Assembly enacted § 9-102 of the Courts and Judicial Proceedings Article. Maryland Code (1984 Repl.Vol., 1988 Cum.Supp.). Designed to facilitate testimony by child witnesses in child abuse (particularly sexual abuse) cases, the statute authorizes a judge to direct that a child’s testimony be received via one-way closed-circuit television. 1 When the procedure is invoked, judge, jury, and defendant remain in the courtroom.
