POSNER, Circuit Judge.

The question presented is whether the First Amendment entitles the plaintiff, Rudy Byron, who describes himself as “a political hack employed in a make-work position doing virtually nothing in an unnecessary job,” to be reinstated to that position, with back pay “to date of reinstatement [and] with all applicable benefits and pay increase to which plaintiff would be entitled had he not been dismissed,” be cause he was fired for political reasons.
