The Court must decide whether to let stand a $900,000 jury verdict for the plaintiff, Steven W. Arnold (“Arnold”), against the municipal defendants, The County of Nassau and The Sheriff of Nassau County (collectively “County”), for failing to protect him from being assaulted and severely beaten by fellow inmates while being held as a pre-trial detainee at the Nassau County Correctional Center (“jail”) on a rape charge. 1 The jury determined that liability was warranted against the County, but not against any of the individual correction officer…
