A jury convicted Steven Sprester (Defendant) of stealing a credit card, a class C felony, § 570.030.3(c), RSMo Cum.Supp. 1998. Defendant appeals from that conviction and the sentence imposed. The State requests this court dismiss Defendant’s appeal based on the “escape rule.” We grant *604the State’s request and dismiss Defendant’s appeal.

On January 25, 1999, a Jasper County jury convicted Defendant of stealing a Mastercard credit card. After the trial judge accepted the jury’s verdict, the following colloquy occurred:
