We must decide whether the court of appeals erred in dismissing as moot an appeal from a temporary injunction. The trial court granted Joel Casey Jones, then an offensive guard on the Texas Tech University Red Raiders’ football team, a temporary injunction enjoining the National Collegiate Athletic Association (“NCAA”) and Texas Tech University (“Texas Tech”) from enforcing NCAA rules that would have cost him his eligibility for the 1996 football season.
