Pursuant to the Uniform Act to Secure the Attendance of Witnesses from Without a State in Criminal Proceedings (see 11 Uniform Laws An-not. 1 [Master ed. 1974]), which has been adopted both by New York (N.Y. Criminal Procedure Law § 640.10 [McKinney 1971]) and by Massachusetts (G.
