Appellants, Milton M. Cooke Co. (Company) and Milton M. Cooke, Jr. (Cooke) (jointly, appellants), challenge a final judgment rendered in favor of appellee, First Bank and Trust (First Bank), on its suit to collect on two promissory notes. 1 Appellants responded to First Bank’s lawsuit by asserting accord and satisfaction as an affirmative defense and counterclaims that included negligence, conversion, unjust enrichment, usury, and breach of contract.
