Mlller, President:
The plaintiff, a machinist of some eighteen years experience, employed by defendant in its foundry at Wheeling on a night shift, in some way had his right arm caught between a belt and pulley on the shafting attached to the machine he was operating, resulting in a severance of his lower fore arm, and so mangling and bruising his upper arm that it had to be amputated above the elbow. For his injuries thus sustained he recovered in the court below a verdict and judgment against defendant for $16,777.75. The circuit court denied the defendant’s motion for a new trial, and the…
