The action was brought by the personal representative of the deceased employee against the employers, to recover damages for the former’s death through alleged negligence on the part of the defendants. The deceased had at some time prior to the accident been an engineer in a building owned by the defendants and was an electrician by trade. In the absence of the employee whose duty it was to run a passenger elevator in the building the deceased had for some two weeks operated the elevator.
