After a jury trial in the circuit court of Will County, defendant, Peri Allen, was found guilty of burglary and was sentenced to a four-year term of imprisonment. The appellate court reversed and remanded for a new trial, holding that defendant had “adequately alleged plain error” where the trial court abused its discretion in requiring defendant to wear an electronic stun belt as a restraining device at trial…
