I. INTRODUCTION

Defendant-appellant Robert Barros appeals from a circuit court judgment of conviction for promoting a dangerous drug in the third degree, Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS) § 712-1243 (1993), and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, HRS § 329-43.5(a) (1993 and Supp.2000). Judgment was entered August 23, 2000; Barros was sentenced to probation for five years.
