FOTI, J.

The plaintiffs1 appeal from the judgment of the trial court dismissing their zoning appeal. They *313claim that the court improperly (1) dismissed their appeal for lack of compliance with General Statutes § 8-8 (e) and (2) held that § 8-8 (q) could not be invoked to reinstate the appeal. We remand the matter to the trial court for further factual findings relative to the issue of mootness.
