COLINS, President Judge.

Joseph Cataldi appeals from an order of the Workers’ Compensation Appeal Board (Board) affirming the decision of a Workers’ Compensation Judge (WCJ) suspending benefits for a closed period as a result of Cataldi’s failure to appear for an independent medical examination (IME).1 We reverse.

On July 16, 1981, Cataldi fell through the roof while in the course and scope of his employment. As a result of that fall, Cataldi suffered multiple injuries that required two major surgical procedures. The surgeries were a laminectomy, a fas-ciotomy at l¡-á, L-5 with the insertion of…
