The plaintiff, Ryan, Elliott and Company, Inc. (Ryan), proceeded to trial in the Superior Court on so much of its complaint as alleged that the defendant, Leggat, McCall & Werner, Inc. (Leggat), had intentionally interfered with the contractual relationships between Ryan and two of its employees. Ryan alleged that Leg gat had offered them employment, thereby inducing and otherwise causing them to breach their five-year employment contracts with Ryan.
