The defendant has appealed from a judgment of conviction of the offense of violation of section 11500, Health and Safety Code, a felony. By way of indictment it was charged that he did ‘‘sell, furnish and give away a narcotic, to wit, heroin.” While the document entitled “Notice of Appeal,” filed by appellant in propria persona, is not skillfully drawn, it will be liberally construed so as to permit a hearing on the merits. (People v. Robinson, 43 Cal.2d 143, 145 [271 P.2d 872].)
