Appeal by the defendant from a judgment of the Supreme Court, Queens County (O’Dwyer, J.), rendered June 12, 1985, convicting him of robbery in the first degree, upon a jury verdict, and imposing sentence.

Ordered that the judgment is reversed, on the law, and a new trial is ordered; the facts have been considered and are determined to have been established.

On the record before us, we are compelled to conclude that the defense counsel’s performance was so woefully inadequate that the defendant was deprived of the "meaningful representation” of counsel to which he is constitutionally entitled…
