Appeal (transferred to this court by order of the Appellate Division, Second Department) from an order of the Supreme Court (Hillery, J.), entered December 14, 1989 in Dutchess County, which granted petitioner’s application to administer medication to respondent.

When respondent, a patient at petitioner, a State facility for the mentally ill, refused treatment in the form of a certain psychotropic drug, petitioner sought court authorization to administer the medication.
