I,On February 24, 2006, a West Baton Rouge Parish grand jury indicted defendant, Michael Garcia, for the February 8, 2006, first-degree murder of Matthew Mil-lican (“Matt”), a violation of La.Rev.Stat. § 14:3o.1 During his arraignment on March 3, 2006, defendant entered a plea of not guilty.2 Defendant’s jury trial commenced on June 4, 2008.
