for the Court.

The respondent, Frederick K. (respondent), appeals a judgment of the Family Court terminating his parental rights as to his daughter, Alvia. Avia’s mother voluntarily consented to an open adoption agreement and is not a party to this appeal. This case came before the Supreme Court for oral argument on October 4, 2006, pursuant to an order directing the parties to appear and show cause why the issues raised in this appeal should not summarily be decided.
