This is a suit instituted by appellees to recover of appellant the sum of $21,000, alleged to be due on 21 bonds for $1,000 each issued by appellant on December 31, 1883, and bearing interest at the rate of 6 per cent, per annum, of which appellees alleged they were innocent purchasers for value before maturity. It was further alleged that the city of Laredo was granted a charter in 1756 by the King of Spain, and that he granted to said city four leagues of land lying partly on the north side of the Rio Grande; that the portion of the land in Texas .contained 10,700 acres, the grant of which…
