I. INTRODUCTION
Plaintiffs are New York City police sergeants who brought suit against the City and its police department to recover overtime compensation to which they are allegedly entitled under the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 (the “FLSA”), but for which they have not been paid. Following the close of discovery with respect to six categories of sergeants, plaintiffs moved for partial summary judgment on the issue of defendants’ liability.
