Appellant Charles Adams was seriously injured in an accident involving a tractor-trailer driven by John Hofer. Following the accident, Adams obtained a default judgment against Hofer of approximately $1 million in Utah state court, but was unsuccessful in collecting the judgment from Hofer. Adams then brought this action ágainst Appellee Royal Indemnity Co., which had issued two insurance policies pertinent to this action. First, Royal insured Melvin Geigley.
