SULLIVAN, Chief Judge:

During May and June of 1988, appellant was tried by a general court-martial at Garlstedt, Federal Republic of Germany. Contrary to his pleas, he was found guilty of two specifications of rape, assault intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm, assault consummated by a battery, sodomy, and housebreaking, in violation of Articles 120, 128, 125, and 130, Uniform Code of Military Justice, 10 USC §§ 920, 928, 925, and 930, respectively.
