This is an action in which plaintiff Valley National Bank (‘Walley National”) seeks to recover monies it paid to defendant P.A.Y. Check Cashing, doing business as United Check Cashing (“United Check”), on a $16,000 check issued by Valley National to a natural person payee and a fictitious corporate payee. The check bore a signature and what purported to be a stamped endorsement when it was presented to United Check by the natural person payee and cashed by United Check.
