Plaintiff was employed by defendant at its New Orleans plant as a machinist. On September 29, 1937, while engaged within the scope of his employment, he sustained an accidental injury when a fragment of metal became embedded in his right eye. On being examined by two eye specialists, they concluded the inadvisability of any further medical assistance. Plaintiff continued at his employment and, about June, 1938, a traumatic cataract appeared on the injured eye, with evidence of the eye "turning out".
