On January 7, 1919, W. E. Shuttles, E. H. Shackelford, H. B. Beeler, Wertli Wimberly, ancf J. W. Crotty signed and acknowledged, in the manner required for acknowledging deeds, an instrument in writing for the purpose of forming a voluntary association, to be known as the Oil Lease & Royalty Syndicate, the purpose of which was to accumulate money and property and to buy and sell oil leasés and oil and mineral royalties.
