Airman Third Class Harry C. Kemp, the accused, and one Schafer were charged jointly with the premeditated murder of a third airman, Harold D. Cartwright, in violation of Article 118, Uniform Code of Military Justice, 10 USC § 918. Accused was, accordingly, brought before a general court-martial convened at McGuire Air Force Base, New Jersey — the locus of the crime — - for trial.
