SULLIVAN, J.

Johnie Lee Mosley is presently confined in the California Men’s Colony at Los Padres pursuant to a judgment convicting him of assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury. (Pen. Code, § 245.) He seeks a writ of habeas corpus on the ground that his conviction was obtained in violation of his Sixth and Fourteenth Amendment rights to have the effective assistance of counsel, to plead not guilty, and to have a trial wherein he can confront and cross-examine the witnesses against him.
