This is a complaint under the statute relating to bastardy. Gen. Statutes, p. 469, secs. 1, 4. The defendant was brought before a justice of the peace; upon an adjournment he gave bonds for his appearance; he appeared, and filed a plea in abatement. The issue on that plea was decided against him. He then moved for an appeal to the District Court of Waterbury, and offered sufficient bonds; but the justice decided that unless he would enter into a bond with sufficient surety in the sum of one thousand dollars, conditioned to prosecute his appeal to effect, and also conditioned to appear…
