The Hurricane plantation, situated on ■ an island in the river about twenty miles below Vicksburg, had in the year 1911 become heavily indebted, and among the means to provide for its obligations there was a bond mortgage placed upon it for twenty-five thousand dollars. The bonds became the property of the American Bank & Trust Company, to cover in part a previous debt.
