This case involves the determination of the rightful beneficiary to a life insurance policy issued to Gary Watson, deceased. Appellee Ronda Gale Watson is Gary’s widow. Appellant Mary Jane Watson is his ex-wife. Following a jury trial, the White County Circuit Court entered an order declaring Ronda to be the beneficiary and awarding her the proceeds of Gary’s fife insurance. Thereafter, the trial court ruled that Gary’s insurer, Appellant Primerica Life Insurance Company, failed to pay Ronda’s claim in a timely manner, and ordered it to pay a twelve-percent penalty…
