*525The defendant, Lilly Harper, was indicted for the crime of larceny, alleged to have been committed in the taking and carrying away of the personal property of one Thomas C. Scholes, thirteen $10 gold coins, lawful money of the United States, each denominated an “ eagle,” and all of the value of $130, and also one certificate of deposit issued to the said Scholes by the First National Bank of Portland, Oregon, for the sum of $500, and of that value, and, upon conviction thereof, was sentenced to imprisonment in the penitentiary for the term of eighteen months.
