Defendant Bunge Corporation (“Bunge”) appeals from final judgment entered after a jury verdict awarded $75,000 in compensatory damages to the plaintiff, Clarence Jackson. Bunge claims that the district court erred in denying its motions for judgment as a matter of law and its alternative motion for a new trial because Jackson failed to establish a prima facie case of retaliatory discharge for filing a workers’ compensation claim under Illinois law.
