Plaintiff, David Hartlein, filed a petition for a temporary restraining order, preliminary injunction, and permanent injunction in the circuit court of St. Clair County. The petition alleged that the defendant, Illinois Power Company (Illinois Power), Hartlein’s employer, sought to discharge him in retaliation for his exercise of rights under the Workers’ Compensation Act (the Act) (Ill.
