The defendant and a codefendant, Gary Carter, were convicted by a jury in the Superior Court of murder in the *486first degree on the theory of deliberate premeditation. Both men were also convicted of two counts of armed assault with intent to murder; two counts of assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon; one count of unlawful possession of a firearm; and one count of unlawful possession of ammunition.
