SHIPMAN, Circuit Judge.
The complainant, Maynard, Merrill & Co., a corporation duly created under the laws of the state of New York, and having its principal office in the city of New York, was, in June, 1898, the owner of the copyright of a book entitled “Introductory Language Work,” of which Alonzo Heed was the author, and which had been duly copyrighted by him in July, 3891, under the laws of the United States respecting copyrights.
